The Mountain West groups Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Mountain towns, high plains, basins, and metropolitan areas such as Denver, Salt Lake City, and Boise all sit within this broad region.
Elevation and terrain make a single regional climate description unreliable. A lower-elevation basin and a mountain community can have very different winters and travel conditions. Housing, access to healthcare, and proximity to recreation also depend on the specific place; use the city data and local context.
